Reimagining the Sarisbury Green Sign

When the Keeping Sarisbury Green Team reached out to me with an idea to reimagine the village sign, I was instantly intrigued. Their goal was to celebrate Sarisbury Green’s long history — dating back to around 1759 — while creating something that reflected the unique spirit and identity of the community today.

Rather than sticking with a traditional heritage style, the vision was to create something distinctive — a piece of public art that felt alive, modern, and deeply connected to the village. Working closely with the local committee and Footprint, we developed a design that blends heritage with creativity, paying homage to the past while expressing the energy of Sarisbury Green in the present.

The unveiling was a truly special moment — an amazing turnout of people came to celebrate, and it was incredibly moving to see how much the artwork meant to the community. I’m so grateful to everyone who made it possible, including the Streetscene Team at Fareham Borough Council and the dedicated members of Keeping Sarisbury Green Team for their passion and collaboration throughout the process.

It’s been an honour to be part of a project that shows how art can connect people, celebrate local heritage, and bring fresh life to a familiar place.
